Loving Legumes
Loving Legumes
There are so many popular diets that in a country and time with good resources and available nutrition knowledge it is still confusing to know what to eat. There are many goals people can have in mind when considering what to eat from weight management, reducing digestive disturbances to improving health conditions and just feeling great with loads of energy.
There can be a strong focus on what to exclude from the diet be that sugar, animal fats or in some cases even grains and as many carbohydrates as possible that some people are left feeling like they need to be paleo one week then vegan the next not really sticking to either. Well, this post is not to tell you what diet you should be eating or what you shouldn’t be eating but focusing on a group of plant foods that are superstars when it comes to removing toxins from the bowel, helping good bacteria to flourish, assisting healthy weight due to natural protein and fibre and helping you feel your best….they are Legumes!
At the end of the day Probiotics can be very beneficial and have many roles but without prebiotic fibre we don’t get the full benefits of Probiotics. We also have many more strains of bacteria in our microbiome that what we can get in Probiotics so feeding the ones we have got is important. Yes, some people can only have small amounts at first be that a tablespoon a day, so eat the amount that makes you feel comfortable.
