What is Iridology?
Iridology, that is the study of the iris, dates back to the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries where writings and markings on the iris where recorded mainly by medical practitioners. Nowadays, it is widely used in Germany and the UK and with increasing frequency in Australia and the US.
Iridology is a science revealing pathological and functional disturbances in the human body by means of abnormal spots, lines and discolorations of the eye.
A Naturopath trained in Iridology can ascertain a person's inherited and acquired potential for health and disease by studying the eye. Rather than identifying specific diseases, the coloration and fiber structure of the iris reflect changing conditions of the tissues such as inflammation, acidity, toxicity, congested lymph, and hardened arteries which points to the treatment options for health and wellbeing. Every organ and part of the body is represented in the iris in a well-defined area and each area is viewed to gain an understanding to how well it is functioning. The method of Iridology analysis, not in itself a medical examination or diagnosis, supports the various healing arts in the work of building up of their patient's strength and playing a large role in preventative medicine.
Whether or not the eyes are the windows to the soul, Iridology does give us insight into a person’s health and susceptibility to illnesses.
